From 1989 to 2023, for 34 years, Marvis participated with the San Francisco Department of Elections and worked with other community groups in various capacities: Poll worker, register individuals to vote, voter education, held elections forums, candidate forums, ballot measure forums, and community outreach.
A celebration of life for Marvis J. Phillips is planned:

St. Boniface Church officiant will preside over memorial
reception will follow (a scheduled program will occur)
